Dear Delegates and Friends of EuroMUN,
On behalf of the United Nations Student Association Maastricht, I would like to welcome you to the website of the VI European Model United Nations. It is my honor and pleasure to serve as Secretary-General for the 6th Period of Sessions of EuroMUN. The conference will be held from Wednesday, May 1st to Sunday, May 5th, 2013, at the Maastricht Exposition and Congress Centre (MECC) in Maastricht, The Netherlands.
As one of the largest Model United Nations Conferences in continental Europe, EuroMUN aims to be a complete experience that will help students prepare for the future and be the change-makers that our generation needs.
During our formal debates, the EuroMUN team hopes to foster an environment where we will all be able to experience the complexity of international politics.
Equally important, the conference will stimulate the intercultural exchange between students from all over the world on a social level, which will help to promote global dialogue. Initiatives and projects like EuroMUN take place every week all over the world and the goals of a conference in The Netherlands aren’t very different from those of a conference in Bolivia, Indonesia or Ghana. By creating youth networks and reaffirming our commitment to the values of the United Nations, we are engaging in Cultural Diplomacy which is at the core of our Theme for 2013.
This year at EuroMUN, there will be 12 committees from the United Nations, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and the European Union. Moreover, we are proud to announce that the UN Global Compact, the Group of 20, and the UN Peace Building Commission, will be simulated for the first time at EuroMUN 2013. Our aim will be to provide stimulating academic debate, and relaxing and entertaining social programs that will introduce our guests to the beauty of Maastricht. Furthermore, we have two Pre-Programs in The Hague and Brussels through which delegates will have the chance to visit the headquarters of International Organizations and enjoy two of the most international capitals of Europe.
