Book "Maaastricht - the treaty" (15 years after Maastricht)Topic Overview
Topic A: EuroMUN 2012 will in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Maastricht Treaty, the birth of the European Union and the Euro, offer a unique simulation around this topic.
20 years have passed since the heads of state of the then European Community signed the Treaty of Maastricht, founding the three pillar system on which the present day European Union still partly rests. In honor of this anniversary, you will have the opportunity to reenact this historical important event in the ongoing process of European integration. At EuroMUN 2012 you will take a stand in the negotiations as a head of state, in the setting of 1992. As this will be a historical reenactment, you will not be able to rely on the knowledge you have of the present day status of the European Union and it is your job to make this simulation as real as possible.
