The year is 1936. Most of the world is split into three rivaling ideologies: Fascism, Communism and Democratic Liberalism. In Spain the military coup of Francisco Franco is imminent. The tensions between the Republicans and the nationalists, supported by Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler and other Fascist leaders, are rising. As history taught us, this coup would turn into a civil war that would last three years and that would open up the gates for the increasingly powerful Fascist leaders in Europe. But what would it happen if history could be rewritten? That is what the delegates in the League of Nations will be discussing in four days of intense debates at EuroMUN 2018.
Nazi Germany, Italy, the Soviet Union, France, and the British and nearly all members of the League of Nations seem to have high interests in a favorable development of the situation in Spain. From preventing the communist expansion, supporting Fascist movements around the world and spreading the communist influence in Spain, the Iberian Peninsula is of enormous strategic importance in Europe. Only a minority of the members of the League of Nations seem to follow the goal of the organization and aim for peaceful status quo for Spain and the world community.
Therefore, brace yourself and get ready for a trip back to the past with the League of Nations at EuroMUN 2018!
